One of the most popular cities in Louisiana is West Monroe, otherwise known as Crawfish City. Situated 3 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico and the cities of Baton Rouge and New Orleans, the city is known for its delicious cuisine, its bustling nightlife, and its wide range of cultural activities. To fully appreciate the city, it’s necessary to explore the areas around it – like the famous Crawfish City. Information can be found here.
Crawfish City is one of the most endearingly named places in the south. This area is also, quite literally, the epicenter of crawfish culture in West Monroe. Every weekend, thousands of people descend on the area to enjoy the famous crawfish boil: a feast that consists of boiling crawfish, potatoes, corn on the cob, and sausage. These culinary delights are served with special spices and a rich array of seasonings. The smell of boiled seafood drifts through the air, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event. Crawfish City’s unique atmosphere doesn’t end at the dinner table. Throughout the summer months, the area thrives with parties and events. Alongside the regular meals of boiled seafood, music and dancing are par for the course. In fact, the local bars and venues hold regular crawfish festivals and parties during the warm weather months. During the winter months, however, the Crawfish City area slows down significantly. This isn’t because of a lack of enthusiasm: it’s simply because the warmer temperatures and plentiful supplies of crawfish make it easy to host large events and social gatherings in the area.
